K-POP DEMON HUNTERS - Derpy - Figural Bank

This K-Pop Demon Hunters money box features Derpy, the famous supernatural blue tiger from the animated film, accompanied by Sussie, the magpie who appears alongside him in many scenes. Manufactured by Monogram, it features a fully sculpted PVC design that captures the character’s deliberately expressive and quirky appearance.

Derpy is depicted sitting, with his imposing light-blue silhouette, large ears, eyes in shades of yellow, orange and red, and a broad smile revealing several sharp teeth. Her coat features various shades of blue as well as darker markings on her forehead, cheeks, chest and legs.

Sussie is perched directly on the tiger’s head. The little supernatural magpie has mainly black and dark blue plumage, several eyes ringed with yellow, and is wearing her characteristic gat, a traditional Korean hat. This combination allows the money box to bring the two companions together in a single decorative piece.

Origin and character lore

Derpy is a supernatural tiger who appears in K-Pop Demon Hunters. Initially associated with Jinu, he acts as a messenger between him and Rumi, delivering their messages and gradually helping to forge a bond between the two characters. Despite his supernatural origins, Derpy behaves much like a giant domestic cat, with a clumsy yet affectionate personality.

His appearance is directly inspired by the ‘babo horangi’, a deliberately naive and humorous depiction of the tiger found in minhwa, traditional Korean folk art. The creators drew in particular on the exaggerated expressions and comical aspect of these paintings to design the character.

Sussie is a supernatural magpie who regularly accompanies Derpy. The tiger-and-magpie duo is also inspired by traditional Korean depictions featuring these two animals. Sussie is particularly distinguished by her multiple eyes and the small gat she wears on her head. In the film, Jinu explains that he originally made this hat for Derpy, before the magpie claimed it for herself.

Beyond their comedic roles, Derpy and Sussie become important intermediaries between Jinu and Rumi. Derpy, in particular, develops a genuine affection for Rumi and plays a symbolic role in the bond that gradually forms between her and Jinu.
