This Kotobukiya figurine depicts Mai Valentine, one of the iconic duelists from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, as part of the Oshi Works collection. Crafted on a 1/7 scale, it stands approximately 23 cm tall, including the base. The Oshi Works range was developed by Kotobukiya around the Japanese concept of ‘oshi’, which refers to a favourite character, featuring pre-painted figurines designed to be easily displayed and collected.
Mai is depicted in her classic outfit from the anime series, with her long, voluminous blonde hair, white sleeveless top, short lavender-coloured waistcoat and purple miniskirt. Her matching high boots and the card case attached to her thigh complete a look that is instantly recognisable to fans of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series.
The duelist strikes a confident pose, her arms drawn in front of her around her Duel Disk, which is attached to her left arm. Her determined expression and posture reflect the character’s proud and independent spirit. The Duel Disk features detailed sculpting that instantly evokes the world of Duel Monsters battles.

Character background and lore
Mai Valentine is one of the most important duelists in the first Yu-Gi-Oh! series. Elegant, self-assured and highly competitive, she is officially presented as one of the best duelists in her universe. However, beneath an appearance that is at times aloof and self-centred lies a personality that gradually evolves through her interactions with Yugi, Joey and their friends.
She meets the group during the Duelist Kingdom tournament organised by Maximillion Pegasus. Her early duels immediately showcase her Harpy-centred Deck, featuring notably Harpie Lady, Harpie Lady Sisters, Cyber Shield and Elegant Egotist. These winged monsters quickly become her trademark and remain closely associated with the character.
Mai also develops a particularly close relationship with Joey Wheeler. Initially rivals, the two characters gradually learn to respect and support one another. Mai thus grows closer to Yugi’s group and officially joins the ranks of Yugi, Joey, Tea and Tristan’s allies. This development contrasts with the very independent attitude she displays during her early appearances.
She then returns during the Battle City tournament, where she confirms her status as a top-level Duelist. Her clash with Yami Marik is one of her most memorable duels: she uses both her Harpies and Amazon monsters, and even manages to seize the Winged Dragon of Ra, though she is unable to fully utilise the God Card.
The Harpies remain inextricably linked to Mai even beyond the anime series. Konami continues to officially present Harpie Lady as her iconic monster and has developed several card game expansions centred around this strategy. This Oshi Works figurine thus emphasises the classic image of Mai Valentine: an elegant, confident duellist ready for battle, equipped with her Duel Disk and dressed in her iconic purple outfit.
