Origin and world of the character
The character of Coco is the central protagonist of the dark fantasy masterpiece WitchHat Atelier, a critically acclaimed manga written and brilliantly drawn by Japanese author Kamome Shirahama since 2016. The plot takes place in a wonderful world where magic is a secret art jealously guarded by natural-born wizards. Coco is a little girl from a humble background who has been fascinated by spells since she was a child, but is doomed to give up her dream. Her life is turned upside down when she secretly catches the mage Kieffrey drawing magic seals, thus discovering the true secret of sorcery. After accidentally triggering a forbidden spell that petrifies her mother, Coco is taken in by Kieffrey. She joins his workshop as an apprentice, embarking on a perilous journey of initiation to master the art of magical drawing and find a way to break the family spell.
