WICKED - POP Rides N° 154 - Glinda Upland in Bubble

WICKED – POP! Rides No. 154 – Glinda Upland in Bubble – 15 cm

Funko celebrates Glinda Upland with this POP! Rides No. 154 figure, inspired by the world of Wicked. This version depicts Glinda seated in her famous magic bubble, which she uses to travel across Oz. The figure stands approximately 15 cm tall and features a more elaborate design than a classic POP! figure.

Glinda is depicted in an elegant pink-toned outfit, styled in her characteristic glamorous look. She sits at the centre of a large translucent bubble mounted on its stand, creating a vertical composition that evokes her spectacular arrivals in the Land of Oz. Funko’s stylised design retains the proportions typical of POP! figures whilst allowing more space for the setting thanks to the POP! Rides format.

Character background and lore

Glinda Upland is one of the two central characters in Wicked. Coming from a privileged background, she arrives at the University of Shiz as a sociable, ambitious young woman who is very keen to maintain her popularity. Her encounter with Elphaba Thropp – with whom she initially shares a flat despite their contrasting personalities – gradually gives rise to a friendship that proves pivotal for both young women.

Glinda aspires, in particular, to develop her magical talents and to occupy an important position in Oz society. However, when the conflict between Elphaba and the Wizard of Oz erupts, the two friends go their separate ways. Glinda gradually becomes a public figure associated with the goodness and authority of Oz, whilst Elphaba is portrayed to the public as the Wicked Witch of the West. Funko directly highlights Glinda’s dilemma, torn between her role in Oz and her friendship with Elphaba.

In the film sequel, Glinda has become the glamorous symbol of goodness throughout Oz and resides in the Emerald City, whilst remaining affected by her separation from Elphaba. Ariana Grande reprises the role alongside Cynthia Erivo, and their relationship remains at the heart of the story.

The bubble is one of Glinda’s most recognisable visual features. This POP! Rides figure specifically chooses to highlight this element by depicting her suspended in her magical mode of transport, creating an instantly recognisable representation of the character within the Wicked universe.
