This Hasbro Transformers Studio Series Deluxe Class figure depicts Shockwave in his appearance from the animated film *Transformers One*, also known as *Transformers: The Beginning* in French. Standing approximately 13.3 cm tall in robot mode, it features the character’s Cybertronian design and boasts a full transformation mechanism that allows it to switch from robot mode to a Cybertronian aircraft in 28 steps.
The design captures Shockwave’s massive and instantly recognisable silhouette, with predominantly purple armour, metallic grey elements and his single central eye. This Studio Series version is directly inspired by his appearance in the film and retains the angular, mechanical aesthetic of the Cybertronians prior to their arrival on Earth. The figure features multiple points of articulation, allowing for a variety of poses for both play and display.
Shockwave comes with a detachable blaster. This can be attached to the figure in both robot mode and Cybertronian aircraft mode, ensuring he retains his weaponry in both forms. The transformation from one form to the other involves 28 steps, offering a level of transformation suited to the Deluxe Class format of the Studio Series range.
The Studio Series collection brings characters from the Transformers franchises to life as articulated, transformable figures, with a focus on details inspired by their on-screen appearances. This version of Shockwave therefore recreates the Elite Guard member as he appears on Cybertron in *Transformers One*, whilst offering the two traditional modes of a Transformers figure.

Character background and universe (Lore)
Transformers One tells the story of the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron at a time when the two future adversaries were still Orion Pax and D-16. Once as close as brothers, their respective choices would gradually lead them down opposing paths and forever alter the fate of Cybertron. The animated film, released in 2024, thus explores the events leading up to the birth of the Autobots and the Decepticons.
In this story, Shockwave initially belongs to the Elite Guard, a former Cybertronian military force operating on the planet’s surface. Hasbro directly presents him as a member of this organisation tasked with ensuring no intruder passes without being interrogated. Alongside Starscream and Soundwave, he is one of the combatants encountered by Orion Pax, D-16, Elita-1 and B-127 when they reach the Guard’s lair.
The Elite Guard went underground after discovering Sentinel Prime’s betrayal and has since been conducting operations against his regime. However, the arrival of D-16 upsets the balance within the group: after defeating Starscream, he earns the respect of many members of the Guard. Shockwave then takes part in the battles against Sentinel’s forces before following D-16 when the latter becomes Megatron.
At the end of *Transformers One*, this split contributes to the formation of the two major factions that will define the rest of the Transformers mythology: Optimus Prime rallies the Autobots, whilst Megatron and his followers take the name Decepticons. Shockwave joins the latter, thereby establishing the role he traditionally occupies across the various incarnations of the franchise. This Studio Series figure therefore depicts the character at a pivotal moment in his history, when he still belongs to the Elite Guard but is already aligning himself with Megatron’s future faction.
