Origin and background of the character
Created in 1940 by the legendary duo William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, the Tom and Jerry franchise is an absolute landmark in the history of animated film and television, having won seven Oscars during its golden age. The plot is based on a timeless slapstick comedy formula centred on the never-ending rivalry between Thomas the cat, a determined but hapless domestic feline, and Jerry, a small brown mouse of formidable intelligence and mischief. Whilst most of their adventures are punctuated by frantic chases and destructive traps, the short films occasionally grant Tom rare moments of tranquillity, often cut short by the pranks of his little rival. This Funko Pop! figurine humorously captures this peaceful side of Tom as he takes a nap, making it the perfect nostalgic piece to complete the dynamic duo on your shelves.
