Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Born into a strict military world after the collapse of civilisation caused by the mutation of the Cordyceps fungus, Ellie is a 14-year-old girl with a strong character and a sharp wit. Her life is turned upside down when she discovers that she is mysteriously immune to the infection, making her humanity's only hope for a vaccine. Entrusted to smuggler Joel Miller for escort across the country to the Fireflies' laboratory, she must learn to survive in the face of the infected and hostile human factions. Over the course of their journey, she develops an unbreakable filial relationship with her protector, a powerful bond that will redefine the very meaning of their existence in this ruthless world.
