Based on *The Apothecary Diaries*, this Banpresto figurine depicts Maomao in her ‘Odd Jobs’ version. Standing at approximately 23 cm tall, it offers a colourful interpretation of the heroine, depicted in an outfit different from her usual palace attire.

The figurine depicts Maomao in a long dress in shades of orange and yellow, complemented by a dark green belt and pink detailing. A wide yellow sash adds fluidity to the outfit, whilst her dark green hair is tied back and adorned with flowers. The dynamic pose, with one foot slightly raised, accentuates the sense of lightness in the composition.

Made from PVC, this non-articulated figurine is designed for display and makes a perfect addition to a collection dedicated to Maomao and the world of *Les Carnets de l’Apothicaire*.

Character background and lore

Maomao is the protagonist of *The Apothecary’s Notebooks*, a work created by Natsu Hyūga. Raised in the red-light district and trained as an apothecary, she developed a deep knowledge of medicinal plants, remedies and, above all, poisons from a very young age. After being abducted and then sold as a servant at the imperial palace, she initially sought to fulfil her contract without attracting attention.

However, her medical knowledge eventually reveals her true abilities. After helping to save the daughter of the concubine Gyokuyô, Maomao catches Jinshi’s attention and is appointed as a taster—a role particularly suited to her expertise in toxicology. Her curiosity, keen powers of observation and keen interest in medicinal and toxic substances subsequently lead her to solve numerous cases involving illness, poisoning and palace intrigues.
