Hasbro’s Star Wars: The Vintage Collection range welcomes the Mercenary Droid, a combat droid inspired by the film Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. Crafted in the classic 3.75-inch scale (approximately 9.5 cm), this articulated figure features the detailed aesthetic of the Vintage Collection range and can be incorporated into either a character collection or a diorama dedicated to the New Republic era.
The Mercenary Droid has a deliberately patchwork appearance, evoking a machine rebuilt from military components sourced from various combat droids. Its mechanical body features a weathered finish and numerous joints, allowing it to be posed in guard, patrol or combat positions. Hasbro officially describes these units as heavily armed mechanical mercenaries assembled from military-grade parts.
The figure comes with a rifle and a blaster fire effect, allowing for a variety of display set-ups. Like the other releases in The Vintage Collection, it is presented on a cardback inspired by classic Kenner packaging, combining film-related artwork with a transparent blister pack. Hasbro also highlights its level of articulation and its design, which is directly inspired by the feature film.

The Mercenary Droid, also referred to in the film’s promotional materials as a Mercenary Guard Droid, appears in *Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu*, released on 22 May 2026. The film is set after the fall of the Empire, as the fledgling New Republic attempts to stabilise the galaxy in the face of warlords and other organisations exploiting the power vacuum left by the Imperial regime. Din Djarin and Grogu are then called upon to play a part in this new era of conflict.
These droids are linked to the Droid Gotra, an organisation composed of independent droids. The official StarWars.com website describes the Gotra as a structure functioning simultaneously as a criminal syndicate, a mercenary group and an organisation advocating for the liberation and emancipation of droids. Its members are notably rebuilt from former Clone Wars battle droids and other salvaged components.
In *The Mandalorian and Grogu*, several of these droids form the armed force of the Hutt twins, tasked with protecting their complex on Nal Hutta during the New Republic era. Their composite bodies bear witness to their origins: these are not standardised military units rolled off a single production line, but machines assembled from parts sourced from different generations of war droids.
This Vintage Collection figure faithfully captures this aesthetic of a heavily armed, pieced-together mechanical mercenary. Its articulated design, rifle and firing mechanism also allow you to group several together to recreate a small unit of Mercenary Guards as seen in the film.
