Discover Wukong with this 14 cm articulated model kit designed by Shang Wan, also distributed internationally under the name Entropy Play. This original creation draws direct inspiration from Sun Wukong, the Monkey King from the famous Chinese novel *Journey to the West*, reinterpreting the character as a richly equipped mechanical warrior.
The design incorporates several elements traditionally associated with the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, whilst giving them a science-fiction aesthetic. Wukong wears imposing armour, predominantly gold and copper in colour and accented with red, as well as a large scarlet cape that accentuates his silhouette. His equipment notably includes a long weapon adorned with flame-like elements, further enhancing the character’s spectacular appearance once assembled.
The design is based on a combination of ABS, metal alloy and POK. The model features a hybrid structure made of alloy and POK, designed to ensure both strength and mobility. Its numerous joints allow for the recreation of dynamic combat poses, with the staff, cape and various parts of the armour all playing a part in the display.
Once assembled, Wukong stands approximately 14 cm tall. This is a genuine build-it-yourself kit, aimed at enthusiasts of model kits and original mechanical creations, as well as collectors drawn to modern reinterpretations of Chinese mythology and literature.

Origin and background of the character
Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King or Qitian Dasheng, the ‘Great Sage Equal to Heaven’, is one of the major characters in *Journey to the West*, a great classic of Chinese literature generally attributed to Wu Cheng’en and published in the 16th century. The British Museum describes him as the immortal monkey who accompanies the monk Xuanzang on his journey from China to India.
According to the story, Sun Wukong was born from a stone before acquiring extraordinary abilities through his spiritual training. In particular, he is capable of numerous transformations, possesses considerable strength and wields a magic staff capable of altering his size. His rebellious nature leads him to defy heavenly authority and wreak havoc even in the divine realms, which ultimately results in him being subdued by the Buddha.
Wukong is then given a chance at redemption by becoming the protector of the monk Xuanzang during his journey in search of Buddhist scriptures. Alongside Zhu Bajie, Sha Wujing and the White Horse Dragon, he battles demons, spirits and other creatures seeking to disrupt their pilgrimage. This transformation from an uncontrollable rebel to a protector is one of the central aspects of the character.
The Shang Wan model kit is not based on any specific official adaptation of a film, video game or anime. It is an original interpretation of the mythological and literary character, transposing Sun Wukong’s armour, red cape and warrior imagery into a contemporary mechanical design.
