Origin and background of the character
Released in 1975, *The Rocky Horror Picture Show* is a satanic-pop musical and science-fiction parody that has become the greatest ‘cult film’ in the history of world cinema. The story follows a young, puritanical couple whose car breaks down near a strange castle inhabited by Dr Frank-N-Furter, a cross-dressing scientist and alien from the planet Transsexual. Magenta is the castle’s maid, with a gothic and provocative look, recognisable by her voluminous, tousled red hair and her dishevelled maid’s uniform. The sister of the butler Riff Raff, she plays an active part in her master’s extravagant experiments and performs the famous ‘Time Warp’ dance routine before revealing her true alien nature as a native of the Transylvania galaxy. This Funko Pop! figurine captures the retro, theatrical aesthetic of this icon of late-night cinema.
