Origin and background of the character
Created by Ken Sugimori for Game Freak’s very first generation of video games, Meowth is a Normal-type Pokémon that appeared in the Red and Blue versions. Resembling an anthropomorphic beige cat, he is instantly recognisable by the gold coin — a Japanese Koban — attached to his forehead, directly linked to his famous signature ability "Jackpot". Although the species is originally wild, one particular Meowth has made his mark on global pop culture by becoming the third iconic, talking and hyperactive member of the Team Rocket trio in the animated series alongside Jessie and James.
This Funko Pop! version faithfully respects the graphic proportions of the original character. It accurately reproduces its long, stiff whiskers, its tucked-back brown ears, its curled tail with a dark tip, as well as its mischievous and friendly expression. A centrepiece and highly nostalgic item, essential for all trainers keen to display this legendary feline alongside other must-have figures such as Pikachu, Eevee or Charizard in their display collection.
