Origin and world of the character
Pikachu is an anthropomorphic fictional creature and the emblematic official mascot of the global Pokémon franchise, created by Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori for the Japanese company Nintendo in 1996. A member of the first generation of pocket monsters, this Electrik-type Pokémon is characterised by its yellow rodent silhouette, red cheeks capable of storing electricity and tail in the shape of a lightning bolt. He has become a global pop culture icon thanks to his role as Sacha Ketchum's faithful companion in the historic animated adaptation, and has crossed the decades through video games, trading cards and numerous spin-off series. The figurine caricatures his universal design to make him part of the Funko product line.
