Character background and lore

Trafalgar D. Water Law, nicknamed the Surgeon of Death, is the captain of the Heart Pirates and one of the most important pirates of Luffy’s generation. He possesses the powers of the Ope Ope no Mi, a Devil Fruit that allows him to create a zone called ‘ROOM’ within which he can freely manipulate objects, people and space.

Law plays a central role in several major arcs of One Piece, notably Punk Hazard, Dressrosa and Wano. His personal history is closely linked to Don Quixote Rosinante, also known as Corazon, whose sacrifice had a profound impact on his journey.
