Meet Monkey D. Luffy, captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, with this POP! Animation figurine No. 2569 produced by Funko. Officially titled ‘Monkey D. Luffy with Helmet’, this edition depicts Luffy in his Elbaf arc-inspired look, wearing an imposing black and gold horned helmet and draped in a red cape. This item also comes with a chance to receive a Chase variant, dispatched at random.
In the standard version, Luffy is depicted crouching, with his eyes closed and sporting his trademark huge grin. One hand supports his face, whilst his horned helmet, textured red cape and the various elements of his warrior’s outfit give this POP! figure a particularly distinctive silhouette. A weapon is also visible on his back
The Chase variant significantly alters the pose: this time, Luffy is depicted standing, eyes open, holding a large golden key with both hands. There is a 1 in 6 chance of receiving this Chase version. The standard figure measures approximately 10.2 cm, compared to approximately 11.7 cm for the Chase version. As the allocation is random, receiving the Chase version is not guaranteed.
Monkey D. Luffy is the captain and founder of the Straw Hat Pirates. Ever since his childhood and his encounter with Shanks the Red, he has been pursuing a single goal: to sail the Grand Line, find the legendary treasure left behind by Gol D. Roger, and become the Pirate King. Before he set sail, Shanks entrusted him with his straw hat, making him promise to return it once he had become a great pirate.
Luffy also possesses extraordinary abilities linked to his Devil Fruit, which allows him to fight using a body with elastic properties. His free-spirited nature, his immense appetite and his love of adventure contrast with his determination whenever a friend or a member of his crew is threatened. This loyalty to his companions is one of the central themes of his journey.
The outfit reproduced by this POP! figure is from the Elbaf arc, during which the crew members adopt new costumes inspired by the aesthetic of the giant warriors. The anime officially began its Elbaf arc in April 2026, and official Japanese merchandise has notably featured Luffy and his companions in their ‘Elbaf outfits’.
The large golden key on the Chase variant directly references an element from this part of the story. On Elbaf, Luffy meets Loki, the prince of the giants, who is held captive by chains made of marine granite. After striking a deal with him, Luffy sets off with Zoro, Nami and Road in search of the key to unlock his shackles. Episode 1166 of the anime, broadcast on 14 June 2026, depicts this quest in detail.
POP! No. 2569 thus offers two interpretations of Luffy from the Elbaf arc: a standard version, relaxed and smiling, and a Chase figure standing with the key, more closely linked to one of the central quests of his adventure on the Island of Giants.
