Origin and background of the character
Monkey D. Luffy is the central protagonist of the monumental work One Piece, the legendary shōnen manga created by Eiichiro Oda in 1997. Having accidentally eaten a Devil Fruit, his body acquired the elastic properties of rubber. Founder and captain of the Straw Hat Crew, he sails across the Grand Line with his companions to fulfil his dearest dream: to discover the legendary treasure left by Gol D. Roger and become the new Pirate King. Banpresto’s famous “DXF-The Grandline Series” collection draws on all its expertise to reproduce, with surgical precision, the expressive features of his face, his legendary straw hat and the dynamism of his traditional battle outfit.
