Origin and background of the character
The Going Merry is the very first ship of the Straw Hat crew, a magnificent caravel with a ram’s head-shaped prow gifted by Kaya to the village of Syrup, from the global epic One Piece created by manga artist Eiichiro Oda. More than just a means of transport, the Merry is a full-fledged member of the crew, harbouring a protective spirit (Klabautermann) born of the love of its companions. It is on this legendary ship that Monkey D. Luffy, the elastic captain with dreams of becoming the Pirate King, spent his favourite moments, constantly sitting in his favourite and designated spot: the ram’s head at the bow of the deck.
This 8 cm figurine from the "WCF Log Stories" collection perfectly captures all the poetry and spirit of adventure of the saga. The sculpture meticulously highlights Luffy’s cheerful, chibi face, his straw hat firmly perched on his head, as he sits comfortably astride the sculpted prow of the Going Merry, which cuts through the stylised waves serving as a base. It is an absolute must-have for any collector wishing to celebrate the beginnings of the adventure, the carefree spirit of East Blue and the unbreakable bond between a captain and his proud ship.
