ONE PIECE - Whitebeard "Marineford" - Figure S.H. Figuarts 24.5cm

This S.H.Figuarts articulated figurine from Bandai Tamashii Nations depicts Edward Newgate, better known as Whitebeard, during the Battle of Marineford in One Piece. Standing approximately 24.5 cm tall, it captures the particularly imposing stature of one of the most powerful pirates of his era, whilst retaining the high level of articulation characteristic of the S.H.Figuarts range.

Whitebeard is depicted in his iconic Marineford outfit, complete with light-coloured trousers, a wide belt, boots and his captain’s coat draped over his shoulders. The coat is made of fabric and features a metal frame that allows its position to be adjusted to suit the figure’s various poses. His massive build, famous white moustache and the visible scars on his chest recreate his appearance during the war at Marine Headquarters.

The set also includes Murakumogiri, Edward Newgate’s imposing weapon classified as one of the Saijō Ō Wazamono, as well as a wide range of interchangeable hands and faces. Five facial expressions allow you to vary his demeanour, whilst four types of hands for each side are provided to adapt the figure to combat scenes or more static poses.

Several translucent effects are included, primarily to recreate the powers of the Gura Gura no Mi. Three hand configurations with effects are included to evoke the vibrations and cracks generated by Whitebeard when he uses his Devil Fruit. These accessories allow you to recreate several of his most spectacular attacks during the Battle of Marineford.

A bonus interchangeable face designed for the S.H.Figuarts Monkey D. Luffy ‘Marineford’ figure, sold separately, completes the set. This piece enhances display set-ups featuring the various figures from the collection dedicated to this major arc of One Piece.

Character background and lore

Edward Newgate, nicknamed Whitebeard, is the captain of the Whitebeard Pirates and one of the most important figures of the Golden Age of Piracy in One Piece. A former rival of Gol D. Roger and a member of the Four Emperors, he is described as ‘the strongest man in the world’ and exerts considerable influence over the balance of power in the Grand Line.

Unlike many pirates in search of wealth or domination, Whitebeard regards his crew as his true family. The members of his fleet affectionately call him ‘Father’, whilst he regards them as his sons. This view of piracy is key to understanding his decision to mobilise his entire force whenever a member of his family is threatened.

Whitebeard possesses the powers of the Gura Gura no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to generate powerful vibrations. These tremors can travel through the air, the ground or the sea, causing phenomena comparable to earthquakes or tidal waves. This ability, combined with his physical strength and mastery of Haki, makes him one of the most formidable fighters of his era.

The ‘Marineford’ version depicted by this S.H.Figuarts figure corresponds to the war that broke out when the Navy announced the public execution of Portgas D. Ace. Whitebeard then rallies his commanders, crew and allies to launch a direct assault on Marine Headquarters in an attempt to save Ace.

Despite his age, his injuries and his declining health, Edward Newgate demonstrated exceptional power during this battle. His final stand at Marineford became one of the most memorable moments in One Piece and helped usher in a new era in the history of piracy, cementing Whitebeard’s legendary status for all time.
