Based on Naruto Shippuden, this Banpresto figurine depicts the Gedô Statue (Gedô Mazô), one of the most imposing and unsettling entities in the universe created by Masashi Kishimoto. This figure, standing approximately 13 cm tall, features a compact design that captures the creature’s massive appearance whilst highlighting its numerous sculpted details.
The Gedô Statue appears to be partially emerging from the ground, surrounded by the large, trunk-like protrusions that form its back. Its face is depicted with a row of nine closed eyes, a wide-open mouth and deeply chiselled features. Both hands are outstretched forwards, whilst its wrists are adorned with imposing bracelets linked by a chain. The sculpture is predominantly rendered in grey-brown tones, which emphasise its mineral and organic appearance.
The figurine rests on an integrated base evoking rocky terrain, whilst the various protrusions rising behind the creature accentuate the overall volume despite its 13 cm size. This non-articulated figure thus prioritises a presentation directly inspired by the appearances of the Gedô Statue in the anime.
The Gedô Statue, or Gedô Mazô, plays a major role in the final part of Naruto Shippuden. This gigantic entity is closely linked to the plan to reconstruct Jûbi, the Ten-Tails, and serves in particular as a receptacle for the chakra of the various tailed beasts. The official Naruto website states that, after absorbing the chakra of the nine Bijû, the Gedô Statue immediately begins its transformation into the Ten-Tails.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, its power is deployed directly on the battlefield. When the Allied Shinobi Forces appear to be gaining the upper hand, Madara summons the gigantic Gedô Statue and unleashes its power against their troops. Its size and power make it a threat that the shinobi present struggle to contain.
The Gedô Statue thus plays a central role in the plan leading to the return of the Jûbi. Naruto, Killer Bee, Kakashi and Gai, in particular, will attempt to destroy it before its transformation can be completed, making this entity one of the defining elements of the final battles in Naruto Shippuden.
