Character background and lore

Katsuki Bakugo is one of the central characters in the manga and anime series My Hero Academia, created by Kohei Horikoshi. A pupil in the prestigious Hero Course at Yuei High School, he has aspired since childhood to become a professional hero capable of reaching the very top.

Bakugo possesses the Alter Explosion, which allows him to produce a nitroglycerine-like substance through the sweat glands in his palms and detonate it at will. This spectacular ability lies at the heart of his extremely aggressive fighting style, in which he combines power, aerial manoeuvrability and exceptionally sharp reflexes.

Known for his explosive temper, his self-confidence and his impressive competitive spirit, Bakugo has a long-standing rivalry with Izuku Midoriya (Deku). Behind his aggressive nature, however, lies a highly disciplined fighter, endowed with remarkable tactical acumen and driven by a constant desire to improve and become one of the finest heroes of his generation.
