MY HERO ACADEMIA - Izuku Midoriya - Fig. A Story of Reaching out 23cm

From My Hero Academia, this Banpresto figurine depicts Izuku Midoriya, alias Deku, in a much more peaceful pose than his usual battle poses. It is part of the Ichibansho MASTERLISE – A Story of Reaching Out Forever collection and stands approximately 23 cm tall. This series focuses on expressive sculptures that highlight the characters and their development throughout the story.

Izuku is depicted here in his Yuei school uniform, consisting of a grey jacket trimmed with green, a white shirt, a red tie and dark blue trousers. His red high-top trainers complete the outfit. He is depicted with one leg slightly in front of the other whilst holding the two straps of his rucksack, in a natural pose that evokes his everyday life as a student.

Fully pre-painted and non-articulated, the figurine is made from PVC and ABS. Measuring 23 cm, it can be displayed on its own or alongside other characters from the ‘A Story of Reaching Out Forever’ collection, including Katsuki Bakugo and Stain.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Izuku Midoriya is the protagonist of My Hero Academia. Born without a Quirk in a society where supernatural powers have become the norm, he has nevertheless dreamt since childhood of becoming a hero like his idol, All Might. His instinct to rush to the aid of others eventually catches All Might’s attention, who recognises in him the qualities needed to become his successor.

All Might then passes on to him One For All, a Quirk that possesses immense power and is passed down from one holder to the next. Izuku thus becomes its ninth heir and enrols in the Hero Course at Yuei High School, where he must gradually learn to master a power that is initially far too powerful for his body.

Under the hero name Deku, Izuku stands out less for his quest for power than for his almost instinctive need to help others. This desire to ‘reach out’ is one of the recurring themes of his journey, whether towards his classmates or towards people whom others would have long since given up on. It is precisely this aspect that the title of the collection, *A Story of Reaching Out Forever*, evokes.

This figurine therefore chooses to depict Deku as a student rather than a fighter, smiling and walking forward with his bag slung over his shoulders. It highlights the young Izuku behind the hero and echoes the journey he has taken since he was a child without an Alter who simply dreamt of being able to save someone.
