Origin and character universe
Released on consoles in 2004 under the creative direction of Hideo Kojima, the stealth game masterpiece Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater plunges the player into the heart of the Cold War in 1964. The plot follows FOX unit agent Naked Snake, parachuted deep into the Soviet jungle during the perilous "Snake Eater" mission. His objective is twofold: to destroy the Shagohod, a revolutionary armoured nuclear weapon, and to eliminate his own mentor, The Boss, who has defected to the enemy. Forced to learn to survive on his own by hunting for food and treating his wounds, Snake masters the art of camouflage and CQC (Close Quarters Combat). His tragic triumph at the end of this adventure earns him the legendary title of "Big Boss", thus laying the historical and narrative foundations for one of the most acclaimed and influential sagas in pop culture.
