MARVEL - Spider-Man (Doom Suit) - Figure Legend Series 15cm

Discover Peter Parker in his stunning mystical armour with this 15 cm Spider-Man (Doom Suit) figure from Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Series. This version is inspired by Spider-Man’s appearance in *Amazing Spider-Man* No. 61, at the start of *The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man* story arc, when Doctor Doom entrusts him with a new mission and equips him with a magic-powered armour.

This Doom Suit radically transforms the hero’s usual appearance. Spider-Man’s red costume is combined with silver armour covering, in particular, his torso, forearms, boots and mask. The design retains Spider-Man’s characteristic large eyes whilst adopting the imposing, metallic lines traditionally associated with Doctor Doom. Red elements extending round the neck and down the back further enhance the spectacular appearance of this magical armour.

The figure features over 20 points of articulation, allowing the head, arms and legs to be positioned in various combat poses. It comes with five accessories: two alternate hands, two translucent magic effects and a scale plastic reproduction of the cover of the second printing of *Amazing Spider-Man* No. 61. The magic effects allow you to recreate the use of the new powers granted to Peter Parker by Doctor Doom.

Presented on a retro-style blister pack illustrated in the style of Marvel comics, this figure joins the Marvel Legends Mini Comic series. Its 15 cm size means it can be displayed alongside other characters in the range, whilst offering a particularly unusual take on Spider-Man, blending his traditional abilities with the mystical world of Doctor Doom.

Character background and universe (Lore)

This version of Spider-Man appears in the story arc *The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man*. At this time, Doctor Doom holds the title of Sorcerer Supreme and has taken on a responsibility formerly held by Doctor Strange: to protect Earth from Cyttorak and his eight Scions. Rather than confronting these creatures himself, Doom chooses Peter Parker as the champion tasked with carrying out this mission.

To enable him to fight supernatural adversaries far more powerful than those he usually faces, Doom provides Spider-Man with a new armour powered by magic. This ‘Doom Suit’, also described as ‘Arcane Armour’, grants Peter access to mystical abilities that complement his usual spider powers. Doom also grants him eight extra lives so that he can return to life after being killed during his battles with Cyttorak’s Scions.

Peter thus finds himself facing a type of threat that is unusual for him. Whereas Spider-Man normally relies on his strength, agility, spider-sense and web-shooters, he must learn to use armour and powers derived from magic. This combination of Spider-Man’s abilities and Doctor Doom’s aesthetic gives rise to one of the hero’s most distinctive appearances.

*Amazing Spider-Man* No. 61 marks the start of this ordeal and pits Peter against the first of the eight Scions. The story, however, retains a fundamental aspect of the character: despite the considerable risks and the very real possibility of dying several times over, Spider-Man agrees to fight because the safety of Earth is at stake.
