Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Created by publisher Wizards of the Coast, Liliana Vess is one of the most charismatic, powerful and ambiguous figures in the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. Originally from the plane of Dominaria, this fearsome Planeswalker has mastered black magic, curses and necromancy, enabling her to raise and command entire armies of undead. Driven by an absolute instinct for survival and a categorical refusal to grow old or die, she once signed a blood pact with four powerful major demons in order to preserve her eternal youth and increase her magical abilities, before seeking by any means necessary to break her chains and regain her total freedom. Her complex trajectory regularly swings between that of an opportunistic anti-heroine and that of a crucial ally for the Sentinels during planetary crises.
