Origin and character background
Mitty is a deeply memorable character with a tragic fate from the world of Made in Abyss, the acclaimed dark fantasy manga written and illustrated by Akihito Tsukushi. Once human, this cheerful orphaned girl explores the Abyss alongside her dear friend Nanachi before being subjected to cruel experiments conducted by the White Whistle, Bondrewd, at the heart of the Fifth Layer. Struck by the terrible "Curse of the Abyss" during their forced ascent, Mitty loses her entire human form, transforming into a shapeless, immortal and grotesque creature known as a Shadow (or Narehate). Despite her painful condition and the loss of her ability to speak, she retains a glimmer of consciousness and a deep affection for Nanachi. Banpresto’s “Fluffy Puffy” collection chooses to highlight the softness and innocence that radiate from her figure, offering fans of this complex work a collectable piece brimming with poetry and emotion.
