Relive one of the most spectacular battles from The Lord of the Rings with this ‘Battle of the Peak’ snow globe from Nemesis Now. Measuring approximately 12.8 cm, this officially licensed decorative piece depicts the legendary battle between Gandalf the Grey and the Balrog, from their fall into the depths of Moria to their final confrontation at the summit of Zirakzigil.
At the centre of the glass sphere stands Gandalf, whilst the Balrog coils around the rocky outcrop that forms the base of the composition. The scene depicts a snow-capped peak with jagged contours, featuring architectural and mineral elements reminiscent of the heights of the Silver Mountain. When the ball is gently shaken, white snowflakes swirl around Gandalf, heightening the icy and dramatic atmosphere of this confrontation.
The resin base features a hand-painted finish, with particular attention paid to the rocks, the Balrog’s dark, fiery skin and the details of the scenery. Each piece may therefore show slight variations in the paintwork. The snow globe comes in an officially licensed, illustrated gift box, suitable for display or for a collection dedicated to Middle-earth.

The Battle of the Peak marks the final stage of the duel between Gandalf the Grey and the Balrog known as the Scourge of Durin. Their confrontation begins on the bridge of Khazad-dûm, deep within Moria. Gandalf destroys the bridge beneath the creature’s feet, but the Balrog’s whip wraps itself around him and drags him into the abyss.
The two adversaries then continue their battle in the depths beneath Moria. Gandalf eventually chases the Balrog through the ancient tunnels and then climbs with him up the Endless Stair, which leads to Durin’s Tower at the summit of Zirakzigil, also known as Celebdil or the Silver Mountain.
It is on this summit, high above the clouds, that the true Battle of the Peak takes place. Gandalf and the Balrog battle for two days amidst fire, lightning and ice. Gandalf eventually hurls his opponent from the top of the mountain, destroying the Balrog and damaging the mountainside in the process. Completely exhausted by the battle, Gandalf in turn succumbs before finally being sent back to Middle-earth to continue his mission in a new form: Gandalf the White.
The ‘Battle of the Peak’ snow globe faithfully recreates this sequence as a decorative object: Gandalf is surrounded by snow inside the sphere, whilst the Balrog looms over the rocky landscape around him, capturing in miniature the final act of their duel on Zirakzigil.
