Origin and character’s universe
Set in the dark, dystopian world of the graphic novel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, the story takes place in New York, several decades after the Foot Clan destroyed the Hamato Clan. Raphael’s fate is one of the most brutal and poignant moments in this work. True to his volcanic and impulsive temperament, Raphael refuses to remain hidden in the face of Karai’s provocations and growing tyranny. Consumed by rage and the desire to protect his family, he launches himself alone into a desperate and incredibly violent assault against the forces of the Foot Clan. His final confrontation culminates in a tragic and deadly battle deep beneath the water, marking the first great loss that will lead to the near-total extinction of his siblings, and leaving behind his sacred Sai, which the Last Ronin will later wield to carry out their revenge.
