Meet Maomao, the heroine of *The Apothecary’s Notebooks*, with this collectable figurine produced by Banpresto. Dressed in an elegant outfit inspired by the imperial court, she showcases a more refined side to the character whilst retaining her lively, observant expression.
The figurine depicts Maomao turned slightly, her gaze directed over her shoulder. She wears a long dress in shades of pink, purple and light blue, accompanied by wide swathes of fabric that seem to float around her silhouette. The movement of the garment and the folds of the skirt lend the whole figure a sense of lightness, whilst the golden ornaments in her hair, her long plait and the small leaf she holds in her hand further enhance the delicacy of the composition.
Measuring approximately 23 cm, this PVC figurine is large enough to showcase the details of the costume and her pose. It will easily find a place in a display cabinet, on a shelf or alongside other characters from the series. The BEM’S product details confirm that it is manufactured by Banpresto, is made of PVC and comes in packaging measuring 20 × 15 × 25 cm.
Maomao is the protagonist of *The Apothecary’s Notebooks*. Raised in the pleasure quarter by an apothecary, she possesses a thorough knowledge of medicine, plants and poisons. After being kidnapped and then sold as a servant to the imperial palace, she initially tries to keep a low profile, but her intelligence and curiosity soon attract attention.
Thanks to her keen powers of observation, Maomao solves numerous mysteries relating to the health of the concubines, cases of poisoning and the intrigues of the court. Her pragmatic demeanour, her sometimes unsettling fascination with toxic substances and her lack of interest in social conventions stand in stark contrast to the elegance of the palace. Her relationship with Jinshi, a high-ranking official of remarkable beauty, is also one of the story’s central themes.
