The axolotl is an amphibian native to the ancient lake systems of the Valley of Mexico. It is particularly well known for retaining several characteristics of its larval stage throughout its life, notably its external gills, which resemble small fringes on either side of its head.
Its distinctive appearance, its face that seems to be constantly smiling, and its many colour variations in captivity have made it a very popular animal in kawaii culture. It is regularly depicted in a simplified form, with large eyes, pastel colours and a cheerful expression.
iTotal’s Axolutely collection draws inspiration from this popularity by featuring the axolotl on a range of decorative items and accessories. Its name is based on a play on words between ‘axolotl’ and the English expression ‘absolutely’, reinforcing the range’s light-hearted and humorous tone.
This snow globe fully embodies this identity thanks to its small, rounded character and its sparkling snowflake effect. It thus combines the axolotl’s natural aquatic world with a whimsical design intended for decoration and collecting.
