Origin and character background (Lore)

Hello Kitty, whose real name is Kitty White, is one of the most iconic characters created by Sanrio. She was born on 1 November and lives in London with her parents and her twin sister Mimmy. Her trademark feature is the bow she usually wears on her left ear, which has become one of the brand’s most recognisable visual symbols.

Curious and sociable, Hello Kitty particularly enjoys travelling, listening to music, reading and making new friends. She also loves the biscuits baked by Mimmy and her mother’s homemade apple pie. Friendship plays a central role in her world and goes a long way towards explaining the warm and approachable aesthetic associated with the character.

This Paladone bowl directly draws on Hello Kitty’s classic graphic features, transforming her face and her famous bow into an everyday object. The addition of the smartphone stand adapts this historic Sanrio identity to a contemporary use, particularly suited to snacking whilst watching a screen.
