Celebrate the meeting between Gundam and Hatsune Miku with this special figurine from the BANPRESTO EVOLVE range. Created as part of the Gundam 45th Anniversary × Hatsune Miku project, it brings to life in three dimensions an original illustration created especially for this collaboration. The figurine stands approximately 21 cm tall and is nearly 30 cm wide, thanks to the spectacular spread of Miku’s long pigtails.
Hatsune Miku appears here in an outfit that blends her usual visual identity with the graphic style of Mobile Suit Gundam. The costume primarily combines blue, white and red with gold metallic accents, whilst the ornaments in her hair evoke the franchise’s mechanical aesthetic. She is depicted in the midst of a performance, microphone in hand and arm raised, in a pose designed to emphasise the theatrical aspect of the collaboration.
The imposing translucent pigtails are one of the sculpture’s key features. Banpresto has used transparent parts with a four-colour gradient, creating a particularly dynamic effect around the character. Many details of her costume also feature a gold metallic finish.
Hatsune Miku was originally a voice synthesis software programme developed by Crypton Future Media, enabling the creation of a singing voice from lyrics and melodies. Thanks to the vast number of works produced by its users, Miku has gradually moved beyond her status as software to become a virtual singer and a major figure in Japanese digital creativity, appearing notably in concerts, video games and numerous collaborations.
The GUNDAM × MIKU Anniversary Special Project collaboration was created to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Gundam franchise. The project brings the two worlds together across various fields, including music, virtual performances, the metaverse and a range of merchandise. Bandai has thus released Hatsune Miku alongside several Mobile Suits and iconic Gundam symbols.
This BANPRESTO EVOLVE figurine stems directly from this anniversary project. Banpresto states that it reproduces an illustration created specifically for the collaboration, with Miku depicted as if in a real musical performance. It is therefore less a version of Miku belonging to the Gundam narrative universe than an official visual fusion of the two franchises, created to celebrate their respective identities.
