Meet Richard ‘Data’ Wang, the budding inventor from The Goonies, with this POP! Movies No. 2163 figure from Funko. This new take on the character pays direct homage to his famous ‘Slick Shoes’, one of the many gadgets he uses throughout the adventure. The figurine is in the standard POP! format, measuring approximately 9.9 cm, and joins the new series dedicated to the 1985 cult film.
Data is depicted with his black hair, long green coat, jeans and white trainers, as well as several straps and accessories reflecting his inventor’s kit. His hands are positioned near his harness, and the various items attached to his outfit are reminiscent of the many homemade inventions he carries with him whilst searching for One-Eyed Willy’s treasure.

Data is part of the group of friends at the heart of The Goonies. Passionate about inventions, he joins Mikey, Mouth and Chunk on their quest for the legendary treasure of One-Eyed Willy, which could enable their families to save their homes. Unlike the other members of the group, Data carries a whole array of homemade gadgets with him, which prove more or less effective depending on the situation. Funko describes his ‘clever contraptions’ as one of the character’s defining features.
The Slick Shoes referenced by this POP! are one of his most memorable inventions: Data uses his shoes to spread a slippery substance behind him in order to slow down the Fratelli brothers as they chase after the Goonies. This new POP! No. 2163 thus directly captures one of the moments that best exemplifies his role as the group’s inventor.
