This MegaHouse figurine from the Petitrama DX collection is dedicated to Godzilla as he appears in *Shin Godzilla*, a film released in 2016. The piece brings together three major stages of his evolution — the second, third and fourth forms — in a single urban diorama. Measuring approximately 20 cm in total height and 25 cm in width, this piece is billed by MegaHouse as the most imposing Petitrama DX creation produced to date, largely due to Godzilla’s immense tail.

The fourth form takes centre stage and forms the main element of the display. Godzilla is depicted standing amidst the buildings, his mouth open as he breathes fire. His massive silhouette reflects the distinctive features of Shin Godzilla: deeply irregular black skin, glowing patches visible between the contours of his body, small forelimbs, asymmetrical dorsal plates and an excessively long tail.

The second and third forms of Godzilla are positioned on either side of the fourth form. The second form, still very close to the ground and recognisable by its particularly unusual aquatic appearance, precedes the third form, which is capable of standing more upright on its hind limbs. Their presence allows several successive stages of the kaiju’s metamorphosis to be visualised within a single piece.

The pre-painted figurine measures approximately 14.5 cm to the top of the fourth form’s head and stands approximately 20 cm tall in total. It is approximately 25 cm wide. Made from PVC and designed as a fixed display piece, it is intended primarily for display and can serve as a centrepiece in a collection dedicated to Shin Godzilla or the various cinematic incarnations of the King of the Monsters.

Character background and lore

This incarnation of Godzilla comes from *Shin Godzilla*, a 2016 film directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi. Unlike many previous versions of the character, the monster is portrayed here as a constantly evolving organism, capable of rapidly altering its morphology to adapt to its environment. This metamorphosis is one of the film’s fundamental elements.

Following the initial appearance of a gigantic creature still largely submerged, Godzilla takes on a second form, making its way through the streets of Tokyo with an elongated body, visible gills and a still-clumsy gait on dry land. This particularly strange appearance emphasises the biological and unpredictable nature of this new interpretation of the kaiju.

The creature then evolves into a third, more developed form, whose hind limbs allow it to stand more upright. This transformation is, however, merely an intermediate stage: unable to sustain its activity on dry land for long enough, Godzilla returns to the ocean before continuing its evolution.

Its fourth form marks its return in a form that has become truly gigantic and is immediately recognisable as Godzilla. Measuring over a hundred metres in the film, it has dark skin criss-crossed with glowing patches and develops extremely powerful offensive capabilities. In particular, Godzilla can first expel smoke and then flames from its mouth before concentrating this energy into an extremely destructive beam.

At the same time, *Shin Godzilla* depicts the Japanese authorities’ response to a threat whose nature and capabilities change more rapidly than the institutional measures put in place to contain it. The succession of forms depicted in this Petitrama DX diorama thus visually encapsulates one of the film’s key concepts: the continuous evolution of an organism capable of transforming itself to survive each new situation.
