Origin and character background
Ginpachi Sakata is the teacher alter ego of Gintoki Sakata, from the spin-off light novels 3-Z Ginpachi-sensei and the famous parody segments at the end of episodes of the cult anime Gintama, created by Hideaki Sorachi. In this alternative school setting, he serves as the form tutor for Class 3-Z at Ginjanga Academy. Retaining his unruly silver hair and dead fish eyes, he swaps his traditional samurai yukata for a white teacher’s coat over a formal shirt, whilst wearing a pair of glasses. Always armed with a piece of chalk and a cigarette (which he claims is simply a smoking lollipop), he spends his time responding in a cynical, absurd manner that breaks the fourth wall to the outlandish questions of his unruly pupils. Banpresto has applied all its expertise here to precisely capture the character’s carefree attitude, offering a highly faithful and essential piece for fans of this legendary saga.
