Origin and character background (Lore)

Olaf is a major character in Frozen. This living snowman is created by Elsa’s magic and embodies the childhood memories she shares with her sister Anna.

With an enthusiastic and particularly optimistic personality, Olaf explores the world with great curiosity. Despite being a snowman, he dreams of experiencing summer and warmth, without initially realising the consequences this might have for him.

He accompanies Anna, Kristoff and Sven on their journey through the kingdom of Arendelle and gradually becomes a true member of their group. His attachment to Anna and Elsa, as well as his very simple view of love and friendship, play an important role in several moments of the story.

Olaf also returns in Frozen 2, where his character develops whilst retaining his humour, curiosity and optimism. He has since become one of the most recognisable characters in the Disney Frozen franchise.
