Origin and world of the character
Fern is a central character in the manga and animated fantasy adaptation Frieren(Frieren: Beyond Journey's End), created by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe. A war orphan taken in by the priest Heiter - a former member of the group of heroes who defeated the Demon King - she is entrusted to the elf-mage Frieren to become his apprentice. Characterised by her calm, rational and mature temperament, Fern manages the daily running of the duo, compensating for her mentor's detachment and relative laziness. Endowed with an immense natural talent for magic, she learns to conceal her mana and cast spells at prodigious speed. Her rigorous path illustrates how knowledge is passed down through the generations as they travel the world.
