From Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, this Banpresto figurine depicts Fern, a young human mage and Frieren’s apprentice, in the midst of a magical battle scene. Standing approximately 19 cm tall, it is part of the EFFECTREME range, a collection whose concept is based on combining dynamic sculpting with visual effects achieved in particular through the use of translucent parts.
Fern is depicted holding her magic staff with both hands, her body slightly turned and her legs positioned to complement her gesture. Her long purple hair flows out widely around her, as do the panels of her dress and her black cloak, giving the composition a sense of movement despite its static form.
At the tip of her wand, a striking translucent light-blue magical effect composed of hexagonal shapes appears. This element serves as the figurine’s main visual focal point and evokes the magical barriers Fern uses during her battles. The base also features a translucent bluish finish, ensuring visual continuity with the spell effect. The EFFECTREME range is specifically designed to integrate this type of transparent effect directly into the sculpture.
Her outfit faithfully recreates her travelling appearance: a white dress, black cloak, dark boots and long purple hair, complemented by the silver and purple details on her staff. The contrast between her understated clothing and the translucent magical effect serves to highlight the character’s methodical and precise fighting style.

Fern is a young human mage and one of Frieren’s main travelling companions. An orphan of war, she is taken in and raised by Heiter, a former priest of the group of heroes who defeated the Demon King. Heiter becomes her adoptive father and looks after her until the end of his life.
Showing a remarkable talent for magic from a very young age, Fern developed an exceptional mastery of her mana control. Heiter asked Frieren to help with her training, and Fern eventually became her official apprentice before setting off to travel alongside her. The anime’s official website highlights that her abilities, developed from childhood and subsequently honed under Frieren’s guidance, enable her to reach the standard required to pass the first-class mage examination.
Her serious and disciplined nature stands in stark contrast to Frieren’s. Fern regularly has to deal with her master’s lack of organisation and, almost against her will, takes on the role of leader of the group. Behind this very composed demeanour, however, she remains a young woman capable of showing her emotional side or acting spontaneously, particularly in her interactions with Stark, the warrior who is also accompanying them on their journey.
In battle, Fern stands out less for theatrical displays than for the speed, precision and effectiveness of her magic. The EFFECTREME figurine accurately captures this aspect of the character: her expression remains calm whilst her body, her staff and the translucent magical effect convey the intensity of the clash. Banpresto also states that it designed this figure based on a fight scene from the anime, paying particular attention to the rendering of the magical effects.
