DRAGON BALL Z - Super Saiyan Bardock - Figure Blood of Saiyan 20cm

This Banpresto figurine depicts Bardock, Son Goku’s father, transformed into a Super Saiyan. Part of the ‘Blood of Saiyans’ collection, it measures approximately 20 cm and showcases a particularly fierce portrayal of the Saiyan warrior.

Bardock strikes a highly dynamic, offensive pose, with his legs spread wide apart and his torso leaning forward. His right arm is outstretched in front of him with his hand open, whilst his left fist remains clenched close to his body. His open mouth and determined gaze reinforce the impression that he is in the thick of battle.

His transformation into a Super Saiyan is immediately recognisable thanks to his spiky golden hair with metallic highlights and his green eyes. He retains his red headband around his forehead as well as his green, black and white Saiyan armour, which bears deliberate battle scars. His torn black trousers, red arm and leg guards, and green and black boots complete his look. Numerous scratches are also sculpted onto his skin and his gear.

The Blood of Saiyans range traditionally emphasises Super Saiyan transformations and the rendering of their hair. This version of Bardock directly embodies this principle with a shiny gold finish that contrasts with the damaged armour and the darker colour scheme of his outfit. Measuring 20 cm, the figure is the perfect size for display alongside other Saiyans from the same collection.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Bardock is a low-ranking Saiyan warrior and the father of Kakarot, the future Son Goku. In the TV film *Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku*, he serves in Frieza’s army and takes part, alongside his squad, in the conquest of various planets. After being granted the ability to perceive fragments of the future by a Kanassian, Bardock begins to have visions foretelling the destruction of Planet Vegeta and his son’s fate.

When he discovers that Frieza does indeed plan to wipe out the Saiyans, Bardock tries to warn his people, but fails to convince them. He then takes on Frieza’s soldiers single-handedly before launching a final attack against the tyrant. Frieza responds by destroying the planet Vegeta with a gigantic sphere of energy. In his final moments, however, Bardock catches a glimpse of his son as an adult, one day facing Frieza.

The Super Saiyan transformation depicted by this figurine refers more specifically to *Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock*, a spin-off story that takes the character’s fate in a different direction. In it, Bardock finds himself on Planet Plant following the explosion of Planet Vegeta and is nursed back to health by Ipana. He must then face the space pirate Chilled, an ancestor of the Frieza lineage. Official Dragon Ball sources clearly identify this clash between Bardock and Chilled as the central event of *Episode of Bardock*.

It is in this context that Bardock achieves his Super Saiyan transformation, giving rise to the appearance reproduced by this ‘Blood of Saiyans’ figure: spiky golden hair, green eyes, a red headband and heavily damaged Saiyan armour. The figurine thus combines Bardock’s iconic design with one of his most spectacular alternative forms.
