DRAGON BALL Z - Goku - Hooded Sweat (XXL)

This Dragon Ball Z hoodie pays tribute to Son Goku through a graphic design combining a portrait of the character with typography and symbols directly associated with the series. Manufactured by Cotton Division, it features a black base accented with orange, white and grey motifs.

The front is relatively understated, featuring a small vertical motif on the chest. This combines the name ‘Dragon Ball Z’ in orange with a white square containing the kanji 悟, a symbol closely associated with Goku. The back features a much more striking design, centred on an illustration of Son Goku wearing his famous orange gi.

Surrounding the character are several ‘Dragon Ball Z’ and ‘Goku’ inscriptions, arranged in various orientations and sizes. The colours orange, white and grey contrast with the sweatshirt’s black background and directly evoke the series’ iconic colour scheme. The garment also features a hood with drawstrings and a large kangaroo pocket at the front.

Origin and character background (Lore)

Son Goku is the main protagonist of Dragon Ball, a series created by Akira Toriyama. Initially portrayed as a young boy with exceptional strength and a monkey’s tail, he gradually discovers his extraterrestrial origins: Goku belongs to the warrior race of the Saiyans and was sent to Earth whilst still a baby.

Raised by Son Gohan, Goku develops a passion for martial arts at a very early age. In particular, he becomes a pupil of Master Roshi, then continues his training under numerous masters throughout his adventures. His constant desire to improve and face ever-stronger opponents is one of the main driving forces behind the saga.

In Dragon Ball Z, Goku faces off against Vegeta, Frieza, Cell and Majin Buu, amongst others. He develops various transformations and techniques that have become iconic to the franchise, including the Super Saiyan, the Kamehameha and the Genki Dama.

The kanji 悟 featured on this jumper corresponds to the first character of Goku’s Japanese first name, 悟空. It is notably used on some of his martial arts outfits following the period during which he wore the emblems of his various masters. Its inclusion in the garment’s design thus directly reinforces the connection with the character.
