Origin and character lore

Stitch, also known as Experiment 626, is an alien genetic experiment created by the scientist Jumba Jookiba. After escaping and landing on Earth, he meets Lilo, a young girl living in Hawaii who adopts him, thinking he is a pet. Initially programmed to cause chaos, Stitch gradually discovers loyalty, friendship and the concept of ‘ohana’, or family.

This transformation profoundly changes the character: despite his exceptional strength and boisterous nature, Stitch develops a genuine attachment to Lilo and those around her. His blend of mischief, energy and affection has become one of the most distinctive features of the Lilo & Stitch franchise.
