DISNEY – Pocahontas: Colors of the Wind – 1/10 Scale Art Figurine, 37 cm

Inspired by the animated classic Pocahontas from Walt Disney Animation Studios, this Iron Studios figurine depicts the heroine during one of the film’s most iconic sequences: ‘Colours of the Wind’. Part of the 1/10 Art Scale range, this piece, standing at nearly 37 cm tall, emphasises the movement, nature and vibrant colour palette characteristic of this scene from the 1995 feature film.

Pocahontas is depicted standing on a rocky outcrop, gazing towards the horizon. Her long black hair and dress are swept by the wind, whilst a multitude of multicoloured leaves swirl around her. Iron Studios uses these plant elements to create an upward-sweeping and particularly ethereal composition, giving the impression that the breeze is truly sweeping through the scene.

The base also evokes the film’s natural setting with rocks and a stream flowing down the slope. The paintwork favours organic gradients and autumnal colours to recreate the atmosphere of the original sequence. Iron Studios states that the design is directly inspired by the visual concept of the 1995 Disney animated film, with a hand-finished finish.

Made primarily from polystone, this static piece measures approximately 37 × 16 × 19 cm. Its vertical silhouette and the movement of the leaves give it a striking presence despite its 1/10 scale. It is intended to complement both a collection dedicated to Disney classics and a range of figurines showcasing the heroines of Disney Animation.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Released in 1995, Pocahontas is the 33rd animated feature film from Walt Disney Animation Studios. The film tells a fictionalised story centred on the encounter between the English settlers arriving in Jamestown and the Powhatan people. In this Disney adaptation, Pocahontas is the daughter of Chief Powhatan, an independent young woman seeking to determine the path she wishes to follow. She is accompanied by Meeko, a raccoon, and Flit, a hummingbird, and guided by Grandmother Willow.

Her encounter with John Smith plays a central role in the narrative. Whilst the colonists, led by Governor Ratcliffe, are searching for gold and tensions with the Powhatan people are mounting, Pocahontas tries to foster understanding between the two groups. The film culminates, notably, in her intervention with her father to prevent John Smith’s execution and stop the conflict from escalating further.

The song ‘Colours of the Wind’, the imagery of which is directly reflected in this statuette, accompanies the moment when Pocahontas seeks to help John Smith understand a different way of viewing nature and the world around him. Composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, it has become one of the film’s most iconic songs and won the Oscar for Best Original Song. The film also received the Oscar for Best Original Score in the relevant category at the time.

The ‘Colours of the Wind’ statuette by Iron Studios faithfully recreates this sequence in three dimensions: the hair and dress stirred by the breeze, the colourful leaves and the natural setting are not merely decorative elements, but directly echo the visual language associated with the song and one of the film’s central themes.
