This Monogram figurative money box depicts Batman in his massive, imposing form from *Batman: The Dark Knight Returns*. Available in a ‘Black Version’, it captures the distinctive silhouette of the Dark Knight as imagined by Frank Miller, with particularly well-defined musculature, a broad build and a costume dominated by dark tones.
Designed as a bust, this money box measures approximately 15 cm in height and nearly 23 cm in width. Its size makes it ideal for storing coins and small savings whilst also serving as a decorative piece dedicated to Batman. The sculpture has been designed to capture the powerful, ageing portrayal of the hero as seen in *The Dark Knight Returns*.
Made from PVC/vinyl, this Black Version offers an alternative to the blue version also produced for this model. Its entirely dark finish particularly highlights the contours of the mask, the cape, the torso and the Batman emblem.

Character background and lore
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is a major work by DC Comics, originally published in 1986. Written and drawn by Frank Miller, with Klaus Janson on inking and Lynn Varley on colours, this four-issue mini-series presents a more mature, darker and more radical take on Batman.
The story takes place ten years after Bruce Wayne retired from his role as a vigilante. Gotham City has gradually descended into violence and chaos, particularly under the threat of the Mutants gang. Unable to remain a mere bystander, Bruce finally dons the Batman costume once more and returns to fight crime.
This new incarnation of the Dark Knight is deliberately more imposing and aged than traditional depictions of the character. He is joined by Carrie Kelley, a teenager who becomes the new Robin, and must face off against Two-Face, the Joker and the leader of the Mutants. His journey also ultimately leads him to an iconic showdown with Superman.
*The Dark Knight Returns* is now regarded by DC as one of the stories that profoundly redefined Batman and had a lasting influence on the modern portrayal of the character. The particularly imposing silhouette featured on this money box is directly inspired by Frank Miller’s interpretation.
