Origin and character lore
Created by the late master Buichi Terasawa in 1978, the Cobra universe revolutionised the space opera genre with its aesthetic inspired by film noir and psychedelic science fiction. A legendary buccaneer wanted by the Space Pirates’ Guild, Cobra chose to alter his face through cosmetic surgery and erase his own memory in order to enjoy a peaceful life on Earth. But his true nature eventually reawakens, forcing him to once again wield his ultimate and secret weapon: the Psychogun (delta ray), a laser cannon grafted directly in place of his left arm and controlled solely by his mind. Accompanied by his faithful android partner, Lady Armanoïde, aboard the ultra-fast spaceship the Turtle, he travels the cosmos in search of lost treasures whilst braving danger with unflappable composure. This premium bust from the “King Bust” range brilliantly captures the regal stature, nonchalance and mythical aura of this space pirate. It is an essential museum-quality collector’s item to adorn the display cases of all enthusiasts of exceptional artefacts.
