Origin and character background (Lore)

Mizuki Himeji is one of the main heroines of *Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts*, a series of light novels written by Kenji Inoue and adapted into a manga and an anime. The story is set mainly at Fumizuki Academy, a school where academic results directly determine the working conditions and resources available to pupils.

Mizuki is an exceptionally brilliant pupil who should normally have been placed in the prestigious Class A. However, problems during the placement exam led her to join Class F, the school’s least well-equipped class, where she studies alongside Akihisa Yoshii and Yuuji Sakamoto, amongst others.

Gentle, caring and particularly dedicated to her studies, Mizuki also harbours very strong feelings for Akihisa Yoshii. Her calm personality often contrasts with much more intense reactions when she becomes jealous or when Akihisa fails to understand her intentions.

Thanks to her intelligence, her kindness and her central role in the series’ romantic and comic situations, Mizuki Himeji has become one of the most recognisable characters in *Baka and Test*.
