Origin and backstory of the character
The name Bob Gray is inextricably linked to the origins of the ancient, shape-shifting malevolent creature that haunts the sewers of the town of Derry in Stephen King’s masterful novel*It*. In the original novel, the cosmic entity introduces itself as ‘Robert “Bob” Gray, known asPennywise the Dancing Clown’. The prequel series *It: Welcome to Derry* explores the dark past of the small town in Maine over the preceding decades, shedding light on previous waves of child disappearances and how the monster adopted this retro clown appearance to lure its prey. This figurine embodies the human and theatrical incarnation of this ultimate threat, capturing all the psychological madness and terror of this cult horror film franchise.
