Origin and character background
Introduced in 1986 in the cult animated feature filmThe Transformers: The Movie, Hot Rod was originally a young, idealistic, daring Autobot soldier with a passion for speed, transforming into a red and yellow futuristic sports car. His path changed forever during the great battle of Autobot City, marked by the tragic death of the legendary leader Optimus Prime. Faced with the cosmic threat of Unicron and the relentless attack of Galvatron, destiny chose this tireless warrior. Upon opening the Matrix of Leadership, a mystical artefact containing the wisdom of the ancient Primes, Hot Rod undergoes a major physical and spiritual transformation to become Rodimus Prime, the new spiritual and military leader of the Autobots. This commemorative model captures the precise moment of his divine enlightenment, marking one of the most heroic moments in the entire saga.
