TRANSFORMERS - Autobot Ratchet - Figure Voyager Class 16.5cm

This Hasbro Transformers Studio Series Voyager Class figure depicts Autobot Ratchet in his appearance from the first *Transformers* film, released in 2007. Standing approximately 16.5 cm tall in robot mode, this new version celebrates the film’s 20th anniversary and combines an articulated design with a full transformation into a Hummer H2 emergency vehicle. The transformation from robot mode to vehicle mode involves 31 steps.

The robot mode captures Ratchet’s instantly recognisable look from the film, with a predominantly green-and-yellow body, numerous grey and black mechanical elements, and various parts of the Hummer spread across his torso, shoulders and legs. The sculpting aims to reproduce the Autobot medic’s more imposing proportions as seen on screen, whilst retaining several points of articulation to allow for various combat or display poses.

In vehicle mode, Ratchet takes the form of a Hummer H2 converted into a search-and-rescue vehicle. This configuration directly reflects his role as the Autobots’ medic. The vehicle features the same distinctive green-and-yellow livery as in the film and is designed to accommodate the accessories supplied with the figure.

Two accessories accompany this version: a blaster and a circular saw. Both items can be attached to the figure in either robot mode or Hummer H2 mode. The circular saw is a direct reference to the medical and mechanical equipment used by Ratchet, whilst the blaster allows him to take part in combat when he needs to defend his companions.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Ratchet is the medic for the Autobots team led by Optimus Prime in the Transformers film universe. His primary role is to repair and treat his comrades rather than to fight, although he remains perfectly capable of defending himself when the situation demands it. Hasbro describes him specifically as an Autobot who would rather get a comrade back on their feet than join the battle directly, but who is capable of transforming his first-aid tools into weapons.

In the 2007 film *Transformers*, Ratchet, along with Optimus Prime, Ironhide and Jazz, answers Bumblebee’s call and travels to Earth. Upon his arrival, he adopts a specially fitted Hummer H2 as his alternate mode, converted into a search-and-rescue vehicle – a form particularly suited to his role as a medic. He then joins the other Autobots alongside Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes and takes part in the events leading up to the Battle of Mission City.

Ratchet is notably responsible for the maintenance and repairs of his companions. In the first film, for example, he explains that he has long been trying to repair Bumblebee’s damaged voice system. Despite his medical specialism, he takes a direct part in the fighting when the Autobots face off against the Decepticons, using his various pieces of equipment as weapons.

The character remains at Optimus Prime’s side in the sequels *Revenge of the Fallen* and *Dark of the Moon*, before meeting a tragic end in *Age of Extinction*. This new Studio Series figure, however, specifically recreates his appearance from the original 2007 film, complete with his green-and-yellow Hummer H2, his medical role and his signature tools, in a Voyager Class version designed to mark the 20th anniversary of the first film.
