TRANSFORMERS 40TH ANNIVERSARY - POP Retro Toys N° 180 - Prowl

Meet Prowl, the Autobots’ military strategist, with this Funko POP! Retro Toys No. 180 figure. This edition celebrates the 40th anniversary of *The Transformers: The Movie*, the iconic animated film released in 1986. Funko has recreated the character’s classic Generation 1 look, adapted to the distinctive proportions of the POP! range. The vinyl figure stands approximately 11.7 cm tall.

The design retains Prowl’s instantly recognisable visual identity, with his black-and-white police car-inspired livery, red detailing and the Autobot emblem on his chest. The figure depicts him in his robot form, whilst the character is traditionally capable of transforming into a police vehicle. This appearance directly references his classic design within the Transformers universe.

Made from PVC/vinyl, this POP! figure is number 180 in the Retro Toys collection. It joins the Funko range dedicated to the 40th anniversary of *The Transformers: The Movie*, alongside figures such as Optimus Prime, Grimlock and Mirage. The figure is presented in the traditional Funko display box, allowing it to be displayed with or without its packaging.

Character origin and lore

Prowl is one of the original Autobots from the Generation 1 Transformers series. His primary role is that of a military strategist, and classic character profiles place particular emphasis on his intelligence, logical thinking and ability to quickly analyse combat situations. Hasbro has also portrayed him as a close lieutenant to Optimus Prime, tasked with helping the Autobots organise their defence against the Decepticon forces.

Unlike Autobots who favour brute force, Prowl seeks above all to resolve problems through reason and tactical analysis. His highly developed logical mind enables him to assess a complex situation and quickly advise on the best strategy. This methodical approach is both his greatest strength and a potential weakness, as unpredictable events can disrupt his reasoning.

In his classic alternate form, Prowl transforms into a police car, which explains his black-and-white livery and the bodywork elements incorporated into his robotic appearance. Hasbro has also retained this transformation for its modern figures, which are directly inspired by *The Transformers: The Movie*, confirming the link between this design and the version of the character featured in the 1986 film.

In *The Transformers: The Movie*, Prowl is one of the Autobots aboard a shuttle attacked by the Decepticons. He is mortally wounded during the assault, becoming one of the many first-generation characters whose fate takes a turn for the worse right at the start of the film.

This POP! Retro Toys No. 180 thus pays tribute to one of the franchise’s founding Autobots, recognisable by his police car design and his role as the tactical mastermind of Optimus Prime’s forces, whilst also featuring him in the collection celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1986 film *Transformers*.
