Origin and character background (Lore)

Itchy is the star mouse of *The Itchy & Scratchy Show*, a fictional cartoon regularly watched by Bart and Lisa in *The Simpsons*. The series parodies classic cartoons based on the rivalry between a cat and a mouse, but takes the violence to a deliberately absurd and excessive level.

Itchy generally embodies the cunning and aggressive mouse who consistently gets the better of Scratchy, the hapless cat. Each fictional episode is built around a succession of traps, chases and extremely violent gags, used as a satire on the violence in traditional cartoons.

Over the course of the series, Itchy & Scratchy has become a programme within a programme, serving as a vehicle for The Simpsons’ writers to parody the entertainment industry, censorship, television and the conventions of animation.

This Patchwork version offers an alternative visual interpretation of Itchy, transforming one of the most recurring characters in this fictional universe into a collector’s edition with a deliberately distinctive style.
