Inspired by The Powerpuff Girls, this Grupo Erik ceramic mug captures the colourful visual style of the Cartoon Network animated series. BEM’S describes it as a colourful 380 ml indoor mug.
The mug features a light blue and white chequered background, accompanied by numerous small decorative motifs: stars, flowers, hearts, sweets and other colourful symbols. One side mainly features Bubbles in a determined pose, accompanied by the inscription ‘The Powerpuff Girls’, whilst the other shows Buttercup in action with the phrase ‘The Day Is Saved’.
The Powerpuff Girls follow the adventures of Belle (Blossom), Bulle (Bubbles) and Rebelle (Buttercup), three little girls with extraordinary powers. They were accidentally created by Professor Utonium, who was attempting to make the perfect little girls out of sugar, spice and ‘everything nice’, before the mysterious Chemical X was added to the mixture. This accident gave them their superhuman abilities.
The three heroines live in Townsville, where they divide their time between school, living with Professor Utonium and their missions to protect the city. They regularly face off against criminals, monsters and adversaries such as Mojo Jojo, whilst retaining very distinct personalities: Belle usually takes the lead, Bulle stands out for her sensitivity and optimism, whilst Rebelle has a more impulsive and combative nature.
The design of this mug perfectly captures this energetic and colourful spirit, with Bulle and Rebelle surrounded by slogans and small motifs evoking the series’ pop aesthetic.
